PLANT PHYSIOLOGY (BIO 3024) MDH LAB RESULTS
Results from the MDH Lab for the Spring 2017 semester are provided here (updated 4-10-2017). There are three items (and possibly four) that you will need for your lab report:
1. MS-Excel File containing the spreadsheet for protein concentration and MDH enzyme assays [CLICK HERE]. This link includes results that should be included in tabular form for your report. Note that all results should not be listed in the table. Only those results you feel are pertinent should be included.
2. Photograph (updated 4-10-2017) of polyacrylamide gel from SDS polyacrylamide electrophoresis of Jilin (Gel #1) and mutant (Gel #2) cell fractionation extracts. Here are the lane designations, which should be used in the description of each gel:
Lane Number | JILIN or mutant |
1 | Standard |
2 | JA |
3 | JB |
4 | JC |
5 | JD |
6 | MA |
7 | MB |
8 | MC |
9 | MD |
10 | EMPTY |
3. Photograph of the Precision Plus Protein Standard for estimating protein size [CLICK HERE]
4. You might also want to include a picture of the normal and mutant plants [CLICK HERE]
As agreed by the class on Monday, April 10, 2017, this lab report may be concise and done in groups. You will need to include the three essentials for the lab report (spreadsheet table showing protein concentration and enzyme activity, SDS-PAGE gel results, and pictures of the plants) plus at least one page of discussion and a summary of what you learned. This lab report will be due at the beginning of class on Monday, April 17, 2017.
